Dream forever-My story
By Alicia
Hi. My name’s Alania, and I love music. This is my story-a complete telling of my dreams and passions. From my first recording to my hit record, Dream Forever.
Chapter 1-A star is born
Okay. So lets get to my birthday. It was September 12,1997, and my mom knew right when I was born I would love to sing. Just an hour old, I showed the world who I was by seeing it for the first time. Alania Mickalie. When I came home, my nice little room was pretty in pink, and I was too. Growing up with so much pink around, I began to despise it(I still do today). My favorite color is green. It’s a great color, isn’t it?I know. It just makes me feel good. Anyway, at two years old I first held a microphone in my hand. I sang with it too! I made up my own songs- one was Twinkle Twinkle little square(I hated the word star) and it went like this:
Twinkle Twinkle little square,
How much do I love your shape.
Your so perfect, your so great
I just wish that you were mine.
Twinkle Twinkle little square,
How much do I love your shape.
Everyone would then applause, and I loved it- I even went around sitting on all the clapper’s laps. Little did I know that my small family-only audience would soon be filled with screaming fans who love my singing so much they would brag to their friends if I sat on their lap!
Chapter 2-Learning the words
Skip to grade 1. There was a singing contest at my school. I hadn’t sang in about a year, so my mom wasn’t so sure I should do it. But I was already practicing daily with our maid(who didn’t particually care if I won or not). But there was a minor setback: Only grades 2-5 could enter the contest. I was amazingly depressed, and my mom went to see the principal. She agreed to let me be in it after she heard how much I wanted to perform. She warned my mom though: The competition would be hard. I didn’t care.
On March 14, the contest took place. Mom dressed me up adorably against my own will. I wanted to wear a rockstar, black dress with skulls on it. But my mom said no.At the contest, when I performed, the judges were in awe. They were amazed by how such a tiny girl could have such a jaw-dropping voice! But I did, and I made it to the final round. It was me against a awesome vocalist, Sabrina Nickalson, a 5th grader. I was scared, but my mom told me to just think Sabrina was in her underwear and it would go uphill from there. It did, and I won!
After a talk with the judges, I relised my mom had really won. If I had sang the rock song I had planned, I wouldn’t have made it. 2 out of 3 judges hated rock music. I was happy my mom had convinced me to sing that country song. I was officially a great singer to all my classmates!
But of course, hard times came too. My BFF, Catie Lynn, was jelous of me bigtime. She said if I didn’t stop singing, she wouldn’t be my friend. I was upset and heartbroken. I chose Catie Lynn over singing, the worst choice of the two. She had a secret plan to rule me and the singing nation.
Chapter 3-Trouble always follows good
As soon as I quit singing for Catie lynn, she entered a singing contest and won. She had used me to get my title! I was furious and talked to the judges. They said they couldn’t do anything about it. I was completely upset and Catie Lynn thanked me 8 times a day, as if I had wanted her to win my title. Finally, I got enough courage to talk to her. “Catie, you ahd no right to use me!” and what did she say? “Well, Alania, your singing is nothing good compared to mine.” She sang a line of “Hey, I’m better than YOU” , the gloating song of the school. She sang the last word, you, so horribly I felt like I was gonna throw up. I almost did, too! I ran away, annoyed, and all she did was laugh at me! I began to cry , hard. I told Ms. Seasei and she told Mrs. Carlson, Catie’s mother. Mrs. Carlson apologized to me, and made Catie too. I didn’t feel a bit better.
Later, in 3rd grade, Catie struck again. Or tried to. We had became partical friends again, and I told her the secrets that weren’t that serious (like the fact I am moving to LA in 7th grade) But one day she tried to pry a secret from me: How I am such a good singer. I didn’t have a answer for her, and then she just said: “What kinda singer doesn’t have a secret towards her voice?”and stormed off, and I knew she just wanted to steal my secret.
Chapter 4- Good things can happen
So then Catie Carlson was officially evil in my rulebook. My new BFF, Juliette, was supportive of my dreams to be famous and my passions of music. In fact, we would later be in a band together(the one that helped me sell my million-dollar cd). Juliette loved music as much as I do, and we were and still are BFFS now. But one thing I couldn’t do with Juliette I had been able to do with Catie: sing a beautiful duet. Don’t get me wrong, Juliette had her strengths in the music instrustry, but not one of them was singing. She was better at drumming and possibly backup singing, like the ‘ooohhhh’s and ‘ahhhh’s. But not , I repeat, NOT, main singing. Juliette sounded like a dying crow in a field full of it’s favorite food: horrible, and makes you want to save her from dying.
After I cleared up her singing thing with her, she decided we should create a band. The idea went through one ear and out the other: I didn’t understand it. But she really wanted to be in this band together, and finally I agreed. Every Saturday Morning she would call me and be like “Alania, we have band practice today!” and I would be like “Ummm…what’s our band’s name?” Then she would say(crossly) “I don’t know. Let’s ask our teacher for some help.” I agreed, on one conditition: the teacher we went to was my cousin Ashley, a great singer who already had been on 4 concert tours, sold out 19 concerts, and sold over 5.5 BILLION copies of cds in her time.
When we arrvived at Ashley’s, the door had a note.
Hey Screaming fans and possibly family,
I’m on a tour right now in Texas. If any of yall wanna come, just call ticketmaster and get one, kk? BTW, if you’re a family member, use your key to get inside. I have a surprise for you, Alania, and Juliette too!
From your loving star,
Ashley Tibets
We were happy for Ashley, but also kinda disappointed. So we called ticketmaster and got 2 backstage passes so we could talk to Ashley in private about our band and what we should name it. In about 24 hours after we called ticketmaster, we were backstage with Ashley, and she was getting ready. She asked if we wanted to be guest performers, and we agreed. So she canceled BEYONCE for US, a little unknown band with no name! I was so happy, I was jumping up and down! “OKAY!!!!” Juliette screamed(kind of). I giggled. “Let’s perform ‘I have it’” “No, ‘dream on’” “NOOOO,,,,how about we do both?” “Yeah!”
So after Ashley performed her hit song, “Girls Theme Forever” , she helped us set up a drumset and microphone and decided her friend Tabitha who wanted to be famous, could play the gutair. She was awesome at it! Finally, the curtain raised, and the announcer announced…
“And here is the newest band in Hollywood-(here I twitched) The star gals!”
I smiled and started the song off:
Whenever I’m feeling blue
And my hearts in two
I just think of my fans
And all the waving han(d)s
(and then Juliette said “oh-oh yeah!” which sounded great)
And then I get back up
Cause I gotta hup-hup
Hurr-ie to all my fans this way…..
I know I have it
Cause I know it’s really true
So you’ll be here waiting…..(oh, oh,ohhhhh)
(YEAH!)
(an dthen Tabitha sang the rest of the verse)
(when the song was over)
I smiled toward the screaming fans and yelled “ Thanks everyone for coming to see my cousin Ashley, and us, but this band is a one time thing, thank you” but then all the fans screamed “WE WANT MORE STAR GALS!DONT LEAVE US ALANIA!” And I smiled, “Okay, maybe Star Gals will come out again…THANKS EVERYONE!!!!!” the fans screamed and one even tried to get on stage before secretity got him.
Chapter 5- The famous life
After the concert tour, Star Gals was on every magazine cover. I read one, and there was a review of our performance:
“Star Gals” a new band
We give them: 5 stars
Group members: Alania Mickalie, Juliette Jacker, and Tabitha Zinkerson
Review info: This band is new to the music instrudtry, but their fantastic! Our reviewer, Nicky, was at the concert to review Beyonce, and when they said she was canceled, Nicky was about to leave when she heard this band. They are great, and I recommend starting a CD if possible.
I smiled. So they wanted a CD? Well tehn, they’ll get one. And we headed off to a recording studio for newbies only. The recording person was nice and said for us to say our band name and stuff- and then asked for a sample. We sang ‘I got it’ and he loved it! He wanted us to record 12 songs for the CD, and we had luckily written 14, and he said exactly 11 of them were perfect for the cd. “Oh, we can do 11 songs.” He smiled.
About a year later in 4th grade, I was token out of school and instead released my album, Dream Forever. It was a HUMONGOUS hit, selling about 4.1 million copies in its first week! Our recording person sent us to a different recording studio, not for newbies. It was awesome!
After about a month of complete famousness, I got kinda sick of all the mags with my name. So I asked Tabitha if she could forge a note from Ashley that said Star Gals was currently out of show business. She said she could, it would be easy. So I told her exactly how it should sound, and it came out like this:
Dear Star Gals fans,
Sadly, I have received news from Alania(the band leader) that Star Gals is out of showbuisness for a little bit. She promised she would be back, and so would Juliette. Unfortuantely, Tabitha will be moving to bigger and better things, and I will be joining the band. Thank you.
-Ashley Tibets
It looked real. I was amazed! So we sent the letter to Music Fan Magazine and Teen Girl magazine. In the next month’s Teen Girl issue, the letter was displayed. I wondered how our fans would react.
Scared to death the fans would hate us, I talked to Ashley and she agreed to join the band and didn’t seem to care we had forged I letter written by Tabitha supposedbly written by her.
So Ashley wrote an actual note to the magazines describing that she would join ,the change, and that Tabitha would move on to other things, but they weren’t nessicarily bigger and better…and Tabitha got mad. “Hey!” she said. Ashley smiled and laughed. “What? It’s true. You’re meant to work at Dairy Queen and serve us stars, Tabitha!” Tabitha giggled. “Yeah..i guess so.”
Chapter 6- A big change for Tabitha
Tabitha smiled as she left her last band practice with the Star Gals. I looked at her leave and I wondered if I would ever see her again. She was destined to work at Dairy Queen, and famous stars don’t eat at DQ….or do they? I didn’t know so I asked Ashley.
Ashley said famousees (what she calls famous people) could eat wherever they wanted, although the media wouldn’t praticualy like it if we ate at DQ all the time. They wanted difference. Everybody ate at Dairy Queen. The media and the fans expected us to eat at “Fancy De Eats” or “French le Food” because they couldn’t afford it, but we could.
On a different note, I decided to eat at DQ on Tabitha’s first day. I walked up to the counter and fans were swirling around me. A blonde girl greeted me. “Hello, welcome to Dairy Queen, how may I help you” in a drabby voice. Her name tag said “Hello, I’m TABITHA” I smiled. “Tabitha? Is that you?” Tabitha looked at me and said, “Yes, its me. Come with me.” She dragged me to the back. “Okay. I totally wanna get back in the band.” She begged. “I’m sorry, Tabith. The role’s filled.” “WHAT?HOW COULD YOU?!” “Tabith, Ash is in the band now.” “I KNOW, BUT SHE DOESN’T HAVE A SINGLE RIGHT TO TAKE MY PLACE IN THE BAND!” “Atcually, she does.” “WHATEVER!” Tabitha huffed and walked out. She was helping a customer and the sweet, comfy voice you expected returned. “Hello, welcome to Dairy Queen. How may I help you?” the customer giggled. “Is Alania Mickalie really in your storage room?!?” “Yes. But she will be LEAVING.” Tabitha hinted and I took the hint. I walked out and the customers followed me. I ran to my limo, barely excaping the media and fans.
Chapter 7-Star Gals returns
A week later, the Star Gals were hanging out. I giggled as I was watching Daisy the Cow. Then, all of a sudden, Juliette said aloud, “I think we need another band member.” “Huh?” I said. “Yeah, we could hold autditions right here in the SG clubhouse.” Ashley agreed. “Fine. Tommrow at 5:00 pm. Tell all the newspapers.” I sighed. I hope we could find someone.
At 4:50 pm the next day there was a huge line in front of the clubhouse. Juliette wispeared to me, “Guess those newspapers really get the news out!” “Yeah. “ I wispeared back. “Alright everyone, who’s first?” A young girl walked up to us. “Hi there, Miss. What’s your name?” Ashley smiled. The girl giggled. “I’m Giggly Giggle Giggleton.” I immediately said “ Uh-uh.” Juliette agreed. Ashley just looked at the girl, comprehending what she had just said. The Giggly girl thing took the hint and walked off.
We watched at least 500 stupid auditions until a 10 year old girl appeared. “Hey, I’m Caroline, and I wanna be a Star Gal because I can sing backup with you, Alania!” I smiled and said, “Please, Caroline, sing for us, wouldya?” She smiled and sang our hit song “The SG theme” .
“That was awesome, Caroline!” Juliette clapped. I was so happy I said, “YES….YES….YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! “ And Ashley clapped excitedly. Carolien had got 3 great reviews. She was the only one too. “Your in, CarolinE!!!!” we laughed.
Caroline’s first day as a SG went awesomely well. She settled for the backup singer and we began singing a new song written by Ashley, “When I’m Okay”, about particually fame and fourtune. “Caroline, can ya stretch your voice for Mama Music?” Ashley hoped. “Sure.” Caroline giggled. When se sang the note again, it was pure gold. “Perfection!” I cried. “The Star Gals have done it again!”
